Even When It’s Difficult
The future is now. Technology is pervasive. We know our pedagogy and teaching practices must change to help prepare future generations for the world of tomorrow. Then how come it hasn’t happened everywhere? What’s missing? A Design39Campus parent details his journey into the pedagogy of tomorrow and what’s needed for both parents and teachers to take the next step.
Jeff Monday is a Design39Campus Father. Husband. Student. Teacher. Innovator.

Moving the Rock of K-12 Education
K-12 education is facing four existential questions: Why change; what will those changes look like; how do we get there; and how will we intersect a very different future? In his new book, Moving the Rock: Seven Levers WE Can Press to Transform Education
, long-time Poway resident Grant Lichtman has found that many forward-leaning schools have moved past the seemingly endless arguments over “why” and “what”, and are pioneering real transformation. Most importantly, they are doing so without waiting for permission from the forces that have created systemic inertia in our schools for decades. The San Diego region has become an exemplar in how schools and districts all over the country are developing deeper learning experiences for their students. While that progress has been dramatic, it is highly likely that the next two decades will demand a level of change in our school systems that few, if any, are contemplating today.
Grant Lichtman is an internationally recognized thought leader in the drive to transform K-12 education. Based on two decades of work as a senior administrator, teacher, and trustee in K-12 education, he speaks, writes, and works with school and community teams to build capacity and comfort with innovation in response to a rapidly changing world. He shares his numerous articles, speeches, and resources at www.grantlichtman.com, and is the author of three books: Moving the Rock: Seven Levers WE Can Press to Transform Education; #EdJourney: A Roadmap to the Future of Education, and The Falconer: What We Wish We Had Learned in School. Grant received his BS and MS in geology from Stanford University. He and his wife, Julie, live in Poway, California
